The lane

How shipping from China to Mexico actually works.

Peregrine ships from China to Mexico in 6 to 10 days door-to-door, with the local last-mile carrier on every customer tracking page. Built for dropshipping and DTC brands on Shopify, with optional 3PL fulfillment and custom packaging for higher-volume operators. The lane covers the demand picture, the carrier, the customs math, and who is already shipping it.

The market

Mexico is the largest Spanish-speaking ecommerce market in the world and one of the fastest-growing Shopify regions. The middle-class urban populations in CDMX, Guadalajara, and Monterrey anchor most cross-border DTC volume.

Local last-mile carrier on every package

Estafeta handles a meaningful share of Mexican last-mile, with DHL and FedEx as alternates for tracked express and SEPOMEX on standard-class. The tracking page renders Spanish-language scan events (Recibido, Liberado de aduana, Entregado).

De-minimis USD 50, VAT 16%

Mexico's USD 50 de-minimis is tight. Between USD 50-117 the simplified courier regime applies a 19% flat duty; above USD 117 full IVA plus duty kicks in with CFDI 4.0 invoice and recipient RFC required. The dashboard captures RFC at checkout.

Already on the lane

Mexican Shopify stores from 30-a-day operators to DTCs sending several thousand parcels daily across beauty, fitness, and home goods. Natural extension for stores already shipping into the US.

Common questions

Shipping to Mexico, answered.

How long does shipping from China to Mexico take?

Door-to-door averages 8 days. Range is 6 to 10 days, with Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey landing first (6 to 8 days), secondary cities 8 to 9 days, rural southern states 9 to 10 days.

How does Mexican IVA work on small parcels?

Parcels under USD 50: duty-free at the border, no IVA. Between USD 50 and USD 117: 19% flat duty under the simplified courier regime (covers IVA plus general duty). Above USD 117: 16% IVA plus tariff duty by HS code, with CFDI 4.0 invoice and recipient RFC required for clearance. The dashboard captures RFC at checkout and generates CFDI automatically.

Does my customer need an RFC tax ID for the parcel to clear?

For parcels above USD 117, yes. Mexican customs requires an RFC (Registro Federal de Contribuyentes) on the recipient side to assess and collect IVA and duty correctly. The dashboard captures RFC at checkout via a Shopify field. Without an RFC, high-value parcels can stall at customs while the recipient registers.

Will my customer see Estafeta or DHL on tracking?

Estafeta on a meaningful share of metro deliveries, DHL or FedEx for tracked express service, SEPOMEX for standard-class and rural addresses. The customer sees Spanish-language scan events on the tracking page (Recibido, Liberado de aduana, En camino, Entregado) and the Peregrine-branded support email on every notification.

Are cosmetics or electronics restricted shipping to Mexico?

Cosmetics and supplements may require COFEPRIS (Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios) notification on certain categories, and electronics with batteries or radio frequency transmitters can require NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana) compliance. The sourcing team flags any restricted SKU at quote time.
