Use it before you pick a product, not after

Shipping is the cost that decides whether a product works. A $6 item to the US and a $6 item to Australia are different businesses, and a light bulky product can cost more to ship than a heavy small one.

Two minutes here saves picking a product you cannot make money on.

What actually changes the price

Three things, and only three.

Destination. Different countries, different lanes, different prices. Available services also vary. Some countries have Economy, Standard and Express. Others have fewer. Do not assume three options everywhere.

Weight. Rates run in bands, so crossing a band boundary steps the price up.

Whether it contains a battery. Anything with a battery, including a rechargeable device or an item with a battery inside it, ships on a restricted lane and costs more.

Contains battery: answer honestly

The toggle is not a fee to avoid. Batteries are a shipping restriction, not a surcharge, and they have to be declared and routed accordingly.

If it is declared correctly, it ships. If it is not, the order can be stopped at the warehouse, which turns a small extra cost into a delayed customer.

So: rechargeable device, yes. Item with a battery included, yes. If you are unsure, ask before you list the product.

Package type does not change the price

The Parcel, Apparel and Bulky selector does not affect the rate. The page says so directly: rates are priced on destination, weight and batteries, not on this label.

Say it once here so nobody spends time optimising a control that does nothing.

Chargeable weight, and the trap

This is the part that catches people, so it is worth reading twice.

You are billed on chargeable weight, measured at the warehouse: the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight.

Volumetric weight is length times width times height in centimetres, divided by 8000.

Worked example. A cushion weighs 300 grams. It measures 40 by 30 by 20 centimetres.

Ten times the weight you would have quoted yourself.

The calculator takes weight, not dimensions. So for anything bulky, work out the volumetric figure by hand and enter that instead. Otherwise the quote you get is optimistic and the real cost lands later.

Which products to check: anything soft, padded, boxed, inflatable, or shipped in a rigid box much larger than the item. Pillows, bedding, plush, bulky homeware, anything in a display box.

A dense, small product is the opposite case. Those price well and are the reason experienced sellers favour them.

Reading the result

Each line gives a cost and a transit range. Faster costs more, and the fastest option is not always worth it.

Compare the difference against your product price. Two dollars extra on a $19 product is real. On an $89 product it is noise, and the faster lane usually pays for itself in fewer support tickets.

Transit is transit. It does not include the time to buy an item sourced on demand, or dispatch. Dispatch runs sub-24h.

What the number already includes

The rates are final prices. Order processing is already in them. There is nothing added afterwards.

The only thing that can move the number is chargeable weight measured at the warehouse coming in above what you entered, which is the volumetric case above.

Frequently asked

Why is there no Express for my country? Not every lane has every service.

My product is 200g but I was charged for more. Volumetric. Work out length by width by height, divided by 8000, and compare.

Does the calculator include duty or VAT? No. Those are separate and depend on the destination.

Can I get a rate for a product I have not sourced yet? Yes. That is what it is for. Estimate the weight and check before you commit.

What if I disagree with the weight measured at the warehouse? Message support with the order number.

Which countries can you not ship to? Turkey and the Canary Islands have no line. Northern Ireland ships only on a separate, more expensive channel and is quoted on its own.
